GOCCIA – Green opportunities to clean-up contaminants through an interspecies alliance

M3R, as part of the “Osservatorio La Goccia”, is a partner in the project “GOCCIA – Green Opportunities to Clean-up Contaminants through an Interspecies Alliance”, funded by the European Urban Initiative (EUI). The project is led by the Municipality of Milan and involves 8 Italian partners and 3 European cities as transfer partners.

GOCCIA represents an innovative model of Interspecies Playground, where the environment plays the role of primary stakeholders. The project aims to regenerate a large urban area in the Bovisa district of Milan, heavily polluted by former industrial activities but currently undergoing a spontaneous rewilding process.

In collaboration with other technical and scientific partners, M3R will be involved in the development and application of bioremediation and phytoremediation strategies, aimed at the environmental remediation of the site. Additionally, M3R will contribute to the drafting of guidelines for the application of these biotechnologies in similar urban contexts.
