NGS sequencing

The description of the microbial community structure in different environmental matrices by sequencing of marker genes (i.e. 16S rRNA gene of bacteria and archaea, ITS region of fungi, etc.) allows the identification of metabolically interesting microorganisms and their relative abundances within the total community. Furthermore, these analyses allow the assessment of the dynamics of the microbial community over time and thus, the microbiological monitoring of ongoing biodegradation processes.

qPCR analyses allow us to quantify functional genes in environmental samples to assess the abundance of a specific metabolism.
